Jai McDowall Interview : Wyburn & Wayne

Scottish singer Jai McDowall won Britains Got Talent in 2011, the same year a certain food artist Nathan Wyburn made the semi finals. Jai is back with an amazing new single 'Cry' we caught up with Jai to see what he's been up to...

W&W: You won Britain's Got Talent 2011 (also shared your semi final with Nathan), 6 years on, any regrets?

Jai:It was 5 years (don’t age us both too much) lol

I don’t have any regrets I get to do a lot that I wouldn’t be able to do had I not been on that show, I will always be grateful for the platform I got from being on Britains Got Talent.

W&W: Oh gosh yeah 5!! Tell us what you've been doing since winning the show..

Jai: I have recorded an album with Syco and performed in concerts all over the UK and in China. I also got into songwriting as well and now do a lot of writing as well as performing. I have also recently got into Theatre and acting, so looking forward to seeing where life takes me.

W&W: You upload some great covers to YouTube... Has social media helped your career?

Jai: It has very much, at first I was scared of social media somewhat as I couldn’t understand why people who didn’t know me would want to get in touch but once I embraced it I became really proud of the fact that people all over the world were coming together to support me.

W&W: Tell us about your new single, where can people get it?

Jai: The new single ‘Cry’ was the dream child of my friend Shad Love who toured with me as Piano player back in 2013, we wrote the song last year and decided that because I turned 30 (I know it’s all downhill from here lol) that I would give away the single on Soundcloud for FREE as a thank you to my JAInts for sticking by me since the show.

W&W: What's the goal? The big dream...

Jai: The goal and dream would be to have my own world tour one day, I love performing and I could’t imagine anything better than travelling the world doing what I love.

Huge performances from Carlton Gronow, Heflin Carwyn Rosser and Joe Crabbe who play the iconic roles of Tick, Felicia & Bernadette. Their onstage chemistry is fantastic and they provide most of the shows comedy. Everything about this production is BIG, the s…
