Simply Red | Mick Hucknall

Simply Red Celebrate 25th Anniversary of ‘Stars’ 11 Date November UK Tour Announced Simply Red take their classic album ‘Stars’ on the road this November in what will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of the year. The first half of this special show will feature hits and classic Simply Red songs with the second half featuring the entire ‘Stars’ album in its original running order. What are your thoughts on Stars being 25 years old? For an album to have that kind of longevity you obviously did something right in the studio back then? ‘ After the success of ‘A New Flame’ I set myself the challenge of composing a whole album of original songs. I could never have imagined that Stars would have the impact it did. It’s always about the music. I have this abiding faith in the music and that will shine through when I’m dead and gone. I don’t really care about the contemporary side of it because I’m always trying to make music that will last a long time.’ How has it felt to be b

Bernard Poyser | A Great Cardiffian

Just like everyone that knew Bernard Poyser we was devastated to hear of his sudden passing this month. Bernard was a great supporter of any event we was involved in, along with his wife Sandra and daughter Mel he volunteered every year at The Great Roath Bake Off and attended every RoathRocks gig. It was only a month ago he attended Nathan's  exhibition in the city centre, causing chaos as he manoeuvred his mobility scooter in the small exhibition area. Bernie was the life and soul of the party, always telling jokes and always laughing. We will miss the laughs, we will miss the jokes and the singing, your tales of the swinging sixties often had us in shock but always hysterics. This month we honour our friend The Cardiff Times Cardiffian Of The Month. Bernard married Sandra in 1967 and they had Melanie and Christian in the early 70s. They lived in Roath for 44 years. (He grew up in Llanishen). Bernard was a motor mechanic by trade.  He started working at J Sherlock and Son

Shakin Stevens Interview

Platinum-selling Shakin’ Stevens will release his twelfth studio album, Echoes Of Our Times, on September 16. Known as an entertainer and performer, with 33 hit singles and 4 UK number 1's to his name, this new record clearly marks Shakin’ Stevens out as an artist, songwriter and storyteller. Echoes Of Our Times  grew from Shaky’s realization that, like most of us, he knew so very little about the background of his family, the stories of his ancestors’ loves and lives lost, and their struggles to survive. Research revealed tales of poverty and strife in the Cornish copper mines, of bravery and loss in war, of philanthropic preachers and stoic Salvationists, of children suffering and of family secrets and feuds. W&W: Hi Shaky, how are you? Shaky: I'm good, really good. Been very busy with the album release. Doing lots of press and very excited to see it get released. W&W: So tell us, what was the inspiration behind your new album Echoes Of Our Time? Probably the mo
